...We'll see you at the show...

Last night was the Plain White T's concert in Montreal. The last time I saw them was in April when they opened for Jimmy Eat World and ever since then I've been longing to see them play again. Main reason being that (some people may not like this) I found them to be a lot more entertaining than Jimmy Eat World. We had to drive 2 hours there and back but it was well worth the trip.
Alexis and I took on the role of the stalkerish obsessed fan throughout the night. We located their van (with the Illinois plates), talked to Tom (the singer) twice, took a combination of an entire roll of film, bought merch on two separate occasions, and made sure we were in the front row so that they could see us sing all the words to the songs they played.
Tom told Alexis that he wasn't sure how well they would go over with the crowd which consisted of plaid pants-wearing younger kids who were all there to see Catch 22. Not only did someone yell "cut your hair" to Tom when he was talking in between songs but a greater portion of the crowd started clapping when he said it was the last song they were playing. It was so sad.
Let's talk about The Getaway for one moment. The Getaway played before the Plain White T's and I must say were pretty good. They sound like a toned down version of Taking Back Sunday. With that said, it is not cool, not cool, to take on an Oasis-like role and act like you're the greatest band in the world. You do not need to swear and make obscene gestures and say mean things about the Plain White T's. It's even less cool to demand the audience to buy your album and/or a shirt. And even more to ask for a place to stay for the night and say that you're going to find the guy in the crowd who's smoking pot after your set is done. I'm sure their album would have been really good too had I not decided that they were too obnoxious to buy it.
We left before Catch 22 even come on and Alexis ate her frozen shoelace licorice all the way back home; with the only driving mishap occurring when I had to brake heavily and merge across 5 lanes of highway after we almost passed our exit.
And what is this I hear about them coming back to Canada in April? This makes me somewhat glad that I didn't go all the way to Quebec City to see them again.
I'll have pictures up as soon as I develop them and as soon as I can find an image hoster that is not the devil. (Note the lack of diary picture)
